Launch of New MBC Working Groups!

Around 70 members of the new Morecambe Bay Curriculum Working Groups attended the Launch Event at Health Innovation One, Lancaster University, on the afternoon of Friday 7th February 2025.
The six groups (Early Years, Primary, Secondary, Further Education, Alternative Provision and SEND) are beginning the next phase of the development of place-based campaigns, resources and activities linked to sustainability, environment and health.
The event started with the Working Group members enjoying a plant-based lunch, followed by presentations from Dr Bethan Garrett (Lancaster University) on Environmental Justice, Amber Woods (The Bay: A Blueprint for Recovery) on Nature-Connected Social Prescribing, and Anji Stokes and Sarah Baines (UHMB NHS) on Health Around the Bay.
Members then divided up into their own groups to work through a range of activities designed to get to know each other, identify interests and strengths, and begin to identify the best ways of working together, with support from the MBC team. Each group defined and then shared a list of group principles following the MBC’s Head, Heart and Hands framework before deciding on their preferred communication methods and setting a date and time for their first meeting.
It was lovely to have everyone together in the same space and there was a fantastic atmosphere full of energy and ideas. We can’t wait to see what happens next and to hear about the exciting projects which the groups are developing for the next 18 months!
