Speaker: Anna Barbieri (University of Verona) Title: Decorated marked surfaces and applications
Abstract: A decorated marked surface is a real bordered surface with some distinguished points on the boundary components (markings) and in its interior (decorations). Mixed-angulations, i.e., tilings of the surface with polygons whose vertices are the markings, can be arranged in an exchange graph, on which the mapping class group of the surface acts. I will give an introduction on how these data appear as combinatorial data in different contexts, such as in the study of meromorphic differentials on Riemann surfaces (singular complex differential equations), and in representation theory, and present an example of how to use this in the latter case.
