Our keynote speaker for Science Week 2022 will be Dr Ian Levy OBE, Technical Director of the National Cyber Security Centre.

As the UK Government's 'chief cyber security geek', Ian leads on developing defences to manage cyber threats and fostering technical innovation to find undiscovered solutions to protect the UK from large scale cyber-attacks, and day-to-day malicious cyber activity.

We are increasingly relying on technology in our everyday lives and the security of that technology is critical to the country and everyone in it. Ian is the Technical Director of the UK Government’s National Cyber Security Centre and in this talk will explore why cybersecurity isn’t very good today, what we’ve learned from the past few years of trying to change it and how science can help us make it better for the future.

Dr Levy's keynote will open our Science Week 2022, which will run from Monday 28th March to Thursday 31st March with a range of on campus and online talks and activities from all our Science and Technology departments. Please do look out for the #luscienceweek2022 hashtag on Eventbrite and social media for details on further events in the coming days.

This keynote lecture will be delivered in our new 400 seater lecture theatre Margaret Fell. Refreshments will be served, and doors will open, from 12.30pm with the keynote commencing at 1pm.

We look forward to seeing you there and during the week!
