Philip Bond

Philip Bond’s thesis has the provisional title of “Developing mid-infrared light emitting diodes for sorting black plastics”. His topic is how to separate plastics from other materials in recycling and how to solve the particular problem of distinguishing black plastics from the rest. These plastics are difficult to recycle in themselves, but also contaminate other plastics, resulting in greater negative impact on the environment., His thesis research is exploring how the light resistant properties of black plastics might provide a key for sorting these plastics from other kinds.
