Maria Pantsidou
Maria Pantsidou is currently intercalating while she finds her feet as a lecturer in cultural studies in Edinburgh. Her thesis, with the working title, ‘Thermodynamic legacies in the North of England: A multi-method inquiry in conversation with Energy Humanities’, is examining the ways in which cultural knowledge of energy is shaped through historically specific cultural practices, such as those associated with the use and understanding of regional newspapers in the Victorian era, and through ‘new publics’ type political interventions at the current rime. It examines how these practices shape knowledge about energy and situated perspectives on energy futures. Through comparing the structuring of these in their different historical periods, the thesis determines the likely unfolding and ‘enmeshing’ of cultural knowledge in energy practices. Pantsidou has published with Jade Li on nuclear futures, twice at Future Narratives conferences.
