Dr Nhu Quynh Do

International Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in Logistics and Supply Chain Management

Research Overview

She holds a Ph.D. in 2021 in Operations and Supply Chain Management, at the University of Hull. Her dissertation was on innovative pathways towards creating a sustainable, circular supply chain.

Her research specialises in innovative approaches to forge ethical and inclusive global supply chains that tackle critical issues like waste reduction, decarbonisation, worker rights violations, and the empowerment of marginalised actors such as farmers, workers, and informal enterprises. Her research topics include direct sourcing, the adoption of digital platforms and social innovations, as well as the role of multi-stakeholder collaborations in driving systemic change. She seeks to answer critical questions such as: How can ethical sourcing be effectively achieved? Why do conventional approaches like certifications and audits fail to address ethical issues in supply chains, and how do digital and social innovations contribute to better outcomes? And what is the impact of collaborative ecosystems on fostering a sustainable future? How can informal actors be meaningfully integrated into sustainable supply chains?

In her research, she works closely with a diverse range of firms, NGOs, and broader initiatives, especially those in the textile, food and manufacturing sectors. Some examples include Reverse Resources and Renewcell in the textile sector, the Responsible Sourcing Network addressing ethical issues, and participation in platforms like the Global Fashion Agenda. She is eager to connect with organisations seeking to solve sustainability issues in the global supply chains, and to collectively promote transparent and responsible sourcing practices.
