Professor Jane O'Brien
Professor EmeritusResearch Overview
My area of expertise is in professional and organisational learning and in integrating higher education with the world of work. I am a Principal Fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy and was a Chartered Fellow of the Institute of Personnel and Development. I have an ILM level 7 qualification for Executive and Senior Level Coaching and Mentoring.
I introduced an innovative new educational model of Masters' degrees at Lancaster for professional learners and their organisations and led the development of specialist sectoral degrees and customised accredited programmes for organisations. As Associate Dean for Engagement I fostered university/industry collaborations and built strategic partnerships regionally, nationally and internationally. I have provided advice and consultancy to many external agencies, organisations and businesses, including government departments and the NHS and led on the Centre for Health Futures in LUMS.
Retired from the University I am now a non-Executive Director of Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Care Board.
