We are pleased to invite you to a one-day workshop on Diagnostic Expectations, led by Professor Francesco Bianchi from Johns Hopkins University. The workshop will explore the role of expectations in decision-making, with insights spanning macroeconomics, microeconomics, and finance.

About the Instructor:
Professor Bianchi is the Louis J. Maccini Professor of Economics and Chair at Johns Hopkins University. His research has been published in leading journals, and he has extensive experience presenting at major events, including the Jackson Hole Symposium. His work focuses on diagnostic expectations, machine learning for forecasts, and the interaction of monetary and fiscal policies.
Course Description:
The workshop will cover:
- The representativeness heuristic (Kahneman and Tversky, 1972) and its formalization (Gennaioli and Shleifer, 2010).
- Applications of diagnostic expectations in general equilibrium models.
- An introduction to Smooth Diagnostic Expectations.

Francesco Bianchi is the Louis J. Maccini Professor of Economics at Johns Hopkins University and a co-editor of the American Economic Journal: Macroeconomics. He is a member of the Center for Economic and Policy Research and the National Bureau of Economic Research. Professor Bianchi received his Ph.D. in Economics from Princeton University in 2009. Before joining Johns Hopkins, he was a professor at Duke University. He has held visiting or teaching positions at UCLA, NYU, University of Pennsylv
