Discovering Chinese Career Opportunities

An insightful workshop provided students with invaluable awareness of China’s job market.
Lancaster University Management School (LUMS) welcomed the British Council in China as part of their Study UK Career Development Roadshow.
Students from across the region, and from Lancaster partner institution Beijing Jiaotong University, gained valuable career insights from expert speakers.
The event provided a unique opportunity for Chinese students to learn about employment trends and to hear from industry professionals from companies such as XPENG and TCL.
LUMS International Careers Manager May Wang said: “It was fantastic to see so many students actively engaging with employers during this event, gaining direct insight into the skills and experience needed to succeed in today’s competitive job market in China.
“LUMS remains committed to fostering strong links with international employers. We recognise the importance of helping international students stay connected with the job market in their home countries, and this event showcased the strength of our careers team in helping students successfully transition from university to employment.
“We want to extend our sincere thanks to the British Council and the guest speakers for their invaluable support in equipping students with the knowledge to help them thrive in their future careers.”
Professor Magnus George, LUMS Associate Dean for Engagement, welcomed the initiative in his opening speech, and said: “This British Council in China series across UK universities demonstrates that students can combine the benefits of studying in the UK with a proactive approach to the job market back home.
“We are grateful to the employer organisations for joining us, offering attendees direct insights into current employment trends and strategies for career progression.”
