Three LUMS members of staff have been recognised for their outstanding contribution to academic life and the student experience.

Winners at the Student-Led Teaching Awards were presented with certificates by Vice-Chancellor Professor Mark E. Smith and Student’s Union Vice-President (Education) Nick Dearman at a presentation evening on Monday, 5th June.

LUMS winners were:

  • Student Feedback Award: Jekaterina Rindt (Teaching Associate, Marketing)
  • Postgraduate Teaching/Supervision Award - Professor Margaret Hogg (Marketing)
  • Student Experience Impact Award -Roger Marsden (Undergraduate Co-ordinator, Entrepreneurship, Strategy and Innovation)

Jekaterina Rindt said: “I am beyond grateful for the award as a signal that the students perceived the feedback they received to be useful to them on their journey – in expanding their knowledge, skills and interest in a field that they chose to explore. From a teacher’s point of view, there’s nothing that matters more to me than this outcome. To receive the award as a confirmation of this ‘mission’ being accomplished from the students themselves is the greatest confirmation I could wish for.

“My main principle in giving feedback is to ‘be kind, be helpful, be specific’ and I think with all the importance placed on subject-related comments being absolutely undisputed, to me, kindness and absolute respect to the student’s work must always come first.”

Margaret Hogg said: “I was delighted and thrilled to get this award for the part of my job that I love the most - working with doctoral students.”

Roger Marsden said: “It’s made me so very proud and is something I’ll never forget and it means so much more because it’s the students that have taken the time to nominate me.. Finally, I can’t thank the UG student rep for our department and all the other entrepreneurship students enough for nominating me.”

The prizes continue a successful year for the Department of Marketing. Earlier this year Dr Sheila Malone was awarded the Pilkington Teaching Prize and in April Dr Hayley Cocker won the Dean's Early Career Teaching Prize.
