LUMS Careers, Alumni and Employer Relations team and one of our placement students have been nominated in the National Undergraduate Employability Awards (NUE), which celebrate excellence in the UK undergraduate recruitment market for employers, universities and students.
Amy Blanthorn-Hazell (BBA Management) has been shortlisted for Best Placement Student. Her placement was with IBM and she was nominated by her line manager because "the consistently high levels of professionalism which she exhibited raised her eminence within IBM significantly beyond that which her role might ordinarily have achieved at this point."
LUMS Careers, Alumni and Employer Relations team has been shortlisted twice, for Best University Careers / Employability Service and Best University Placement Service. The service was shortlisted in particular because it exceeded expectations of the judges when assessing the level of engagement within the curriculum and engagement with academic departments.
Since the inaugural ceremony in 2010, the Awards have grown considerably in reputation and stature within the industry, supported by a whole host of industry thought leaders, including AGR, AGCAS, ASET, PwC and The Guardian.
Louise Briggs, Head of LUMS Careers, Alumni and Employer Relations, was delighted with the three shortlists. Louise suggests that "it is another example of how, given high quality students, the enthusiastic support of our colleagues and a strategic focus on employability, we are recognised as being among the very best."
