Graduate recruiter Paul McCormick, of Opening City Doors, has been appointed as a specialised LUMS Careers Consultant and has been working with students aspiring to work in the City.

Competition for opportunities in financial careers is amongst the most intense in the whole of the graduate jobs market. Paul has been advising students on ways to stand out during the selection process and has already been successful in helping student hopefuls secure placements.

Dominika Stylinksa (BSc Hons Accounting & Finance (Industry)), who secured a place as a Fixed Income Analyst with UBS Asset Management in London, said: “The complexities of Fixed Income Trading felt quite daunting to me as I prepared to apply for my internship, but that is where I found Paul’s expert and considered advice to be most useful.

“Paul helped me to fill the gaps in my bond market knowledge, and helped me to prepare to be able to answer the most difficult interview questions. I credit my successful application to his hard work and commitment.

“I hope that my placement with UBS will be my first step towards a career in the financial industry.”

Manni Jutla, (BSc Economics (Industry)) has recently begun a Finance Analyst placement with Morgan Stanley. He said: “Paul McCormick was of great assistance during my application process, from proof‑reading my applications to tethering my CV to the standards of a tier one banking institution, and providing useful advice for all types of interviews.
