Lancaster University Management School's 2015 Esmée Fairbairn lecture was presented by the UK’s most eminent health economist - Professor Carol Propper from Imperial College Business School in London.
The NHS accounts for 9% of GNP – that’s over £2000 each every year. So it's important the money is spent well. Professor Propper’s work has had a huge influence on policy and her presentation at Lancaster showcased her research that clearly demonstrates the important positive role that promoting competition in the NHS has had in improving the quality of care.
