The Lancaster China Management Centre welcomed 30 scholars from China and the UK to a two-day conference which explored some key questions on China Management, broadly around the internet and innovation.

The event was co-organised by the International Association for Chinese Management Research (IACMR) and Lancaster University Management School/Lancaster China Management Centre (LCMC). The aim of the conference was to explore some key questions on China Management broadly around the internet and innovation which are yet to be answered.  The conference is part of LCMC’s ongoing commitment to help facilitate the university and school's research agenda on China.

The conference was opened by Professor Andrew Atherton, Deputy VC and Professor John Child from the IACMR. Keynote speeches were delivered by a range of high profile speakers, including Professor Andrew Atherton, Professor John Child from University of Birmingham and Professor Gordon Redding, University of Hong Kong. The conference attracted scholars from leading universities in both China and the UK, e.g., Peking, Shanghai Jiaotong, SOAS and Nottingham.

Dr Qihai Huang, Director of LCMC, said, “We are privileged to hold jointly the China management research frontiers conference with the International Association for Chinese Management Research, a most well-known body dedicated to Chinese management research.  LCMC, as an arm of the proposed university China Research Centre, aims to help strengthen research agenda with the ambition for the centre to be recognized as an international leading hub (probably most well known in the UK and Europe in the new era) of China management research, and research related engagement activities, contributing to LUMS as a leading global management school and the university international strategy. I believe that LCMC can achieve the ambitions by strong support from the university/LUMS, world class scholars, and collaboration with leading institutions such as IACMR”

Prof John Child commented on behalf of the International Association for Chinese Management Research “we are impressed with LUMS/LCMC’ long standing interest and reputation in China management research. We are pleased to work with LUMS/LCMC to advance China management research and fully support LCMC’s vision.  We look forward to work with the strong research team at Lancaster again.” Prof Child is a Fellow of the prestigious British Academy [FBA]. He is also a Fellow of the Academy of Management, the Academy of International Business, and the British Academy of Management. In 2012 he was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award by the International Association for Chinese Management Research [IACMR].
