Chris Ford, a PhD student in Accounting and Finance, is one of the experts interviewed in an HR Magazine feature on what open innovation means for HR.
Treating open innovation (OI) as something confined to R&D is both “unhelpful and unhealthy”, says Ford, whose PhD research focuses on the performance management aspects of this growing way of working.
“Those that make it work find a blend of structure, process and people... You don't create an OI process without first thinking about the strucgture of the organisation: what kind of people are you bringing in and how are you training them?”
