As my time as an MSc Marketing student at Lancaster University comes to an end, I can't help but reflect on the incredible journey I've had over the past year. From the excitement of starting my degree to the countless memories made with friends, I've had the privilege of experiencing the best that Lancaster and its surroundings have to offer. In this final blog post, I want to share some valuable advice for incoming students and highlight the unforgettable moments that have shaped my year.

Making the Most of Your Course

  • Engage Actively: Don't just be a passive learner. Engage in class discussions, ask questions, and challenge your understanding. The more you put into your studies, the more you'll gain from them.
  • Time Management: Balancing coursework, assignments, and personal life is crucial. Create a study schedule that works for you and stick to it. Effective time management will reduce stress and allow you to explore more.
  • Networking: Your classmates and professors are valuable resources. Network and build relationships – you never know where a simple conversation might lead.

Packing Essentials

  • Sense of Adventure: Embrace the unknown with an open mind and a sense of adventure. Be willing to step out of your comfort zone and try new things.
  • Hiking Shoes and Waterproof clothing (do I even need to elaborate?): Lancaster's picturesque surroundings beg to be explored. Whether it's a leisurely stroll along the canal to Hest Bank and Morecambe or a hike in the Lake District, comfortable walking shoes and waterproof clothing are a must. Welcome to Northern England.
  • Polaroid or just your phone: Trust me, you'll want to capture the breathtaking landscapes and charming architecture that Lancaster has to offer.

Welcome Week: Must-Do Activities

  • Explore the Campus: Get familiar with the campus and its facilities. Take a stroll through Alexandra Square.
  • Brunch Bonding: Share a hearty brunch with your new friends at one of the cosy cafes around campus. It's a great way to relax and get to know each other better.
  • Night Outs in Manchester: When the weekend rolls around, consider a night out in Manchester. The city's vibrant nightlife and cultural scene are worth experiencing.

As I bid farewell to my time as an MSc Marketing student at Lancaster University, I'm grateful for the friendships forged, the knowledge gained, and the memories created. To the incoming students, I encourage you to embrace every opportunity, challenge yourself, and savour the experiences that await you. Your journey at Lancaster is about to begin, and I can assure you, it will be nothing short of remarkable.
