My morning routine

I usually wake up at 7:30am, make coffee, pack lunch and catch the bus to campus at 8:10am to be on time for my first lecture that starts at 9:00am.

Daily activities

During weekdays, I attend lectures from 9am to 12pm, followed by lunch with friends from different departments at Lancaster University. Twice a week, I participate in statistics consultations, and I join a code-writing group once a week.

Evenings

I occasionally visit the Salt Ayre sports centre and attend their yoga and mindfulness group sessions in my free time. After 6:30-7pm, I am usually busy taking my son to his sports club.

Student societies

I joined a cycling society this year, so I am still relatively new. I live in Morecambe, so I have not had a chance to attend any social rides yet, but I benefited from “distant” participation by following challenges and activities shared by society members on Facebook. I also attended one social event with tea and cakes and Bob Ross study drawing with other members, which was very fun and unusual.

In the past, I was a member of the chess society. This was also a very interesting experience, as there are not many female members. At some point, I was asked to represent Lancaster University at the Roses tournament, as I was the only female member of the club! This was an amazing experience, and all the other members were very supportive and proud of me. So, I highly encourage more people to join, even those who do not have much experience in playing chess.

Where I like to spend time on the campus

I spend a lot of time around County South, which is very dynamic in terms of writing/discussion group activities, with social spaces such as the Marketplace. In the Marketplace, for instance, I meet with our career advisors for coffee on a regular basis, as well as with senior researchers.
