A day in the life of a Business Management Student
Posted on

My name is Ola, and I am a 3rd year Business Management Student at Lancaster University. Originally from Warsaw, Poland, I came here to obtain life-changing education that challenges me and stimulates me not to take things at surface value.
9:00am - rise and shine!
My routine highly depends upon whenever I have classes. On Mondays, I start at 12:00 so an early start gives me some time to revise and prepare for my upcoming seminar. I live in the city, meaning that whenever I want to get to the University I need to take a bus. Fortunately, it only takes 15 mins and buses run every 10 mins, so being on time is not an issue in Lancaster.
12:00pm - seminar time
I have my two-hour accounting seminar in my eight-person seminar group. What I most enjoy about seminars, is the openness of staff. I never hesitate to ask questions, when I feel unsure about something – also, it is a good opportunity to meet like-minded students.
2:00pm - lunch break
To make sure I have the energy for the rest of the day, I usually head to one of the campus’s restaurants. There are plenty to choose from – it depends on what you are in the mood for. My choice for today was Go Burrito – where I had an amazing veggie burrito to keep me full!
3:00pm - library time
Obviously, with so many deadlines approaching it’s high time to study. There is no better place to do that than the library. I head to the C floor, which is the silent floor – a perfect place to be focused!
4:00pm - last lectures of the day
As my academic day draws to an end, I just have two lectures left. Lectures make up a considerable portion of my course so it's critical I participate in them to get the most out of my degree. Normally, lectures are in lecture halls, in bigger groups than seminars, and they last for an hour. In case I forget to jot down anything, luckily, I can go back via the lecture recording, available after each lecture.
7:00pm - society social
On top of my studies, in my leisure time, I am a social secretary in Lancaster University Polish Society. I am in charge of all integrating events within our community. This time we met in Pendle Bar, one of the college bars available on campus. As I am just finishing my studies here at Lancaster, we wanted to summarise all the activities we had during this academic year – a presentation seemed like a perfect format to do so. We elected new executives to take care of the society. After 2 years as a Secretary there, I will look back on this time with a sense of fulfilment.
After 3 hours of socializing, I headed home. What a day it was – each day in Lancaster is like a box of chocolates – you never know what you are going to get! Yet, every day is filled with so many activities, that living here feels like a peak of student life. For me, it’s the perfect mix of learning and having time for fun activities. I can’t imagine it being any other way.
