Join the Work Foundation and a panel of experts to review the labour market statistics from the Office for National Statistics, and discuss what the prospects are for workers, businesses and communities in 2025.

While headline measures of employment and unemployment appear strong, the UK labour market continues to be characterised by a series of substantial challenges.

A near record 2.78 million people are currently out of the labour market due to ill health – contributing to worker shortages in key sectors and a rising welfare bill. Meanwhile, workers are continuing to live through a period of pay stagnation with average wages just £20 a week higher than in 2008, and over 6.8 million people are in severely insecure work facing a combination of poor pay, unpredictable hours and a lack of employment rights.

The new Government has acted quickly to try to address some of these issues, introducing a comprehensive Budget, an Industrial Strategy Green Paper and an ambitious Employment Rights Bill – and a recently released Get Britain Working White Paper featuring a series of reforms to tackle recent rises in economic inactivity.

But there are unlikely to be any quick fixes. Join the Work Foundation and a panel of experts to review the labour market statistics from the Office for National Statistics, and discuss what the prospects are for workers, businesses and communities in 2025.

Register in advance for this webinar and a Zoom link will be sent 48 hours before the event.
