What are your best memories of LUMS?
Lecture time is my best memories of LUMS, we did a lot of brainstorming, group discussion and presentations. We learn not from the professors, but also from our classmates as we all come from different background and can always bring insight to each other.
What is the best thing about your course?
My course combines theory and practice combined in a very elegant way, we learn from literature and apply the theory in case studies. We learn from case studies and see if it fits the theory or it can prove the theory. This is one of the most important elements of having a Master degree, which is to apply knowledge in the real market.
Please, fill us in on your career story.
I was in real estate and travel industry before I studied in Lancaster University. During my study, I did project management work for Career Centre to build online portal for Chinese and UK students, this project is a joint project between Chinese company and the UK company. After my Master degree, during my exchange student program in Germany, I found B2B marketing position in a German Software Development firm in which 70% of the clients are Chinese clients. Now I work as Business Development Deputy Director to promote our Software Product to Chinese clients and South East Asia clients.
Which part of your course was the best preparation for your job?
Actually all parts of the course are very important as it all always links to what I do, especially B2B marketing. In addition, my thesis on “Organizational Decision Making Process” has also enhanced my skills and experince of the communication process with a client.
Can you give advice for those who want to follow your career path?
I think we need to know our strengths and real interests, and then keep going to pursuit what we want. The key is to have a plan and try to follow it, to have a goal and try to achieve it and after you have achieved the current one your next goal will arise on the way.
