Why did you choose to study at LUMS?
Before I came to UK, I did apply to some universities for my postgraduate study, but finally I chose LUMS. The main reason that I chose here is the high reputation. LUMS is ranked as one of the top 1% of business schools in the world. Additionally, LUMS holds triple accreditation (AACSB, EQUIS and the Association of MBAs) which fully implies the high academic quality of Lancaster University Management School.
Why did you choose your particular programme?
Actually, I had chosen Investment as my undergraduate major. However, when I studied at university, I found that many economic models mismatched with the actual market, so there would be uncertainties and risks when participating in the capital market by leveraging book knowledge only. In this case, when I glanced over all the programmes in LUMS, I tried to find a programme relating with risk management. The Money, Banking and Finance programme offered the various risk management classes including compulsory and optional courses, so it is the main reason that I chose this class.
What are you enjoying most about your programme?
As for this question, I would like to highly recommend my programme and I almost enjoy every moment in my programme. Firstly, the curriculum is well-organised. During the first term (Michaelmas Term), we only have compulsory modules, which are more like a preparation course. After that you would know which direction you were good at and you could have a better choice of the optional modules in the second term. Additionally, our programme is jointly taught by the Accounting and Finance department and the Economics department, so we have various optional courses to choose during the second semester (Lent Term). Secondly, the professors and programme coordinators are very supportive. When you come to see a professor within the office hours, you feel free to talk about anything, including academic confusion and suggestions of the lectures as well. The programme coordinators always send emails to let you know every single event and opportunity in the Management School, like job fairs, studying abroad and so forth. If you want to have an internship or job in the UK, you could always speak with our informed coordinators.
Tell us about your best Lancaster moment so far.
I think life in Lancaster varied and it is hard to choose the best moment. As for the academic side, the best moment is to share your idea with the cohort, ask questions and discuss with the professors. As for the after-school side, the best moment must be societies. I joined the Culture society and during the societies’ activities, I made friends and learned some new culture and languages.
What are your plans after graduating from LUMS?
After graduating from LUMS, I would like to find an internship firstly, since I do not have adequate experience to have a full-time job.
