Why did you choose to study at LUMS?
As a former Venture Capital analyst based in Frankfurt, it was my responsibility to connect innovative high-tech ventures with small and medium-sized enterprises - the German Mittelstand. During that time, I recognized very fast that the combination of business and technological knowledge is quite powerful within the VC business. I’m convinced that besides excellent numerical reasoning and a fundamental legal understanding, technological expertise is increasingly important. Therefore, I decided to pursue the MSc degree in EBIN as it represents a well-regarded linking programme between technology and business.
What/who inspired you the most at LUMS and why?
Dr. Li Xiao, who supervised my dissertation project. With her outstanding research background, she was a great sparring partner in developing my ideas about Corporate Venture Capital. I can highly recommend working with her!
Did you do a project, placement or study abroad? What did this involve and what did you gain?
Fortunately, I received a Post Master Study Abroad scholarship, which enabled me to join the University of St. Gallen (HSG) for another semester. In retrospect, it was a great place to connect with ambitious people combined with first class academic level (not to mention the beautiful countryside of Switzerland ). Overall, an experience I wouldn’t want to miss!
Describe your time at LUMS in three words.
Challenging. Inspiring. Entrepreneurial.
Which parts of your Lancaster experience were the best preparation for your job?
Group projects including up to six different nationalities.
