Stephanie Hall

Country of origin: United Kingdom

Placement: GlaxoSmithKline

Stephanie worked with NiQuitin's marketing brand team during her placement year with GlaxoSmithKline.

My role was working within consumer healthcare as part of the NiQuitin brand team. Working within a marketing brand team you have the opportunity to do a variety of projects as you are always working with different departments and agencies. As NiQuitin is a medicine it is a really complex brand as you have both the consumer and the expert who are your target audience.

Throughout my placement I was given the opportunity to work alongside all brand team members and become heavily involved in various projects such as new product launches and campaigns. I managed the approval of artwork and various materials to ensure that timings were met so that we launched on time.

Working at GlaxoSmithKline as a placement student you are given a lot of responsibility. I was given the opportunity to have projects of my own; one example was managing digital and having control over the two brand websites, another managing the PR for the brand. When you are managing projects the team is confident in your decision-making and I was able to make some key decisions for the brand.

One of my highlights was seeing the projects that I have worked (NiQuitin) be approved by the external Medicine and Healthcare Regulatory Authority and this was a real achievement.  Another highlight was successfully running an internal launch event for the new NiQuitin Pre-Quit patch product. The event was to raise awareness of a new product and begin a healthier 2013 campaign for GSK house.
