Why did you choose to study at LUMS?
I studied my undergraduate degree, Law LLB Hons (2013-2016), at Lancaster University Law School and had a great experience. When I decided to pursue my interest in Marketing, Lancaster University Management School was a natural choice to further my education. I researched other universities because I thought I should consider other options. However, eventually I only applied to LUMS as I felt it was the best option. Luckily for me I was given a place on the programme!
Why did you choose your particular programme?
During my undergraduate studies, several of my extra-curricular responsibilities required me to perform marketing duties, which I enjoyed. For instance, I was Editor of Lancaster University Law Society, so I oversaw the society's website, wrote a weekly e-newsletter, and publicised events with posters and social media. Furthermore, in the final year of my undergraduate studies I had the opportunity to do a LUMS module, Marketing Fundamentals, which sparked a desire to learn more about Marketing.
What are you enjoying most about your programme?
I enjoy how my programme fosters the development of my creative side, which was one of the reasons I wanted to study Marketing. Currently, I am working with a group of students to create an IMC campaign, as part of my assessment for the Marketing Communications module. I have really appreciated this opportunity to exercise my imagination for this assignment, and I am eager to unleash my creative juices for further modules.
Tell us about your best Lancaster moment so far.
This is a hard question to answer because I have had so many awesome moments here! The university has given me lots of good times and plenty of opportunities. I am half Chinese and half English, was born in Malaysia and grew up in New Zealand, which is why I love Lancaster University’s international community. My best moments have been with the diverse people here, my friends have taught me lots about their cultures and celebrating their traditions with them has been fun. Lastly, I will soon be going to China on a study trip with the Confucius Institute at Lancaster University, which I am very excited about. This experience will likely be another great moment for me, thanks to Lancaster!
What are your plans after graduating from LUMS?
After graduating I would love to explore a marketing career. Due to my many interests, I am still unsure which route to pursue but I think I would enjoy either working as a marketer: for an advertising agency, a professional services firm, or a firm within the food industry. Ultimately whatever I decide to focus on career-wise, by the time I graduate from LUMS, I know that I will be equipped with the skills to succeed.
