Why did you choose to study at Lancaster?

The facilities, teaching, and support. It was easy for me to see on open days how much investment there is into the management school in both facilities and support functions.

What was the best thing about your course?

The flexibility in being able to choose the majority of modules in the second and final year.

Did you do a project, placement or study abroad? What did this involve and what did you gain?

I did a placement at IBM, based in Manchester. Here I was a project manager, rolling out automation technologies to a wide range of international clients. This taught me both soft and hard skills. In particular it taught me how the world of business works and the importance of building up a network. This put me in an advantageous position when applying for graduate jobs and also allowed me to excel in my current job.

Describe your time at LUMS in three words.

Unforgettable, informative, exciting

What are the best things about living in the Lancaster area?

The college system is a fantastic way of settling into university life. The campus itself is clearly world-class and the facilities are fantastic. The city itself has a great student buzz about it.

Which parts of your Lancaster experience were the best preparation for your job?

My placement year was the best type of preparation. Other things include the careers service who offer fantastic support when applying for roles. I also think that the modules are all very relevant and I often refer to these in my current job.
