Why did you choose to study at LUMS?

I chose Lancaster University Management School because it is one of the best ranked business and management schools in the world that also believes in the importance and application of quality research in making impact on societies and in businesses too. Also, the presence of a Careers Team which is dedicated to providing students with the needed resources and advice for their careers meant I had the opportunity of gaining employability skills whilst studying.

Why did you choose your particular programme?

Having worked in an Analyst role for a year, in which I was in charge of using technological tools to deliver accurate, insightful and timely analysis of the performance of the company and providing relevant information to drive decision-making, I realised I had developed an interest in Analytics and Data Mining. For me, choosing to study OR/MS meant equipping myself with the right skill sets and knowledge that can be applied to a variety of industries and public sectors to add value, provide practical and feasible solutions to the problems they face and help drive effective and efficient decision-making.

What are you enjoying most about your programme?

The high standard of teaching and interactive nature of lectures. Also, working in groups with people from different countries, diverse backgrounds and various professional and educational experiences on case studies and sharing our ideas and thoughts with one another is a  very involving yet enriching experience. I love that I’m able to relate what I study in class to everyday life and I have the opportunity to apply it in a practical way during the summer project and future career.

Tell us about your best Lancaster moment so far.

Coming back from the Christmas holidays and seeing all the lovely friends I have made and hanging out with them felt so good. Lancaster is just an awesome place with so many warm and friendly people and having the opportunity to share every moment with them is such a great experience.

What are your plans after graduating from LUMS?

After graduating from LUMS, I plan to use the knowledge I’ve acquired, preferably in the energy sector or the fast-moving consumer goods industry to help such businesses grow. Also I’m very passionate about the development of young people and teaching and so would love to be heavily involved in improving the educational sector of my country.
