Rebecca Carlin

Country of origin: United Kingdom

Placement: Institute for Entrepreneurship and Enterprise Development

During her placement year Rebecca worked for Lancaster University's Institute for Entrepreneurship and Enterprise Development.

The position was within the Institute for Entrepreneurship and Enterprise Development (IEED) at Lancaster University and consisted of a number of job roles, including client relationship management, marketing and events management.

My main duties were to assist in the recruitment of small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and support the events management and operations of IEED's business support activities. I also supported the development of the IEED client network and supported other IEED staff to ensure the smooth running of business activities.

The role also consisted of conducting consultancy research projects with individual SMEs that lie within the IEED network. One highlight of the placement has to be having the opportunity to work in London with project partners a number of times throughout the year and run events there, and the second highlight was organising and running a big event individually when I had only been in the job for a few weeks.
