Why did you choose to study at LUMS?
Since the thought about pursuing Postgraduate study came across my mind 2 years ago, LUMS has always been one of the school on my top priority, I was eyeing programmes since then. As one of the best schools in UK, I found that LUMS offers comprehensive and unique programmes with the diversity of its students. As this is my first experience of studying abroad, I believe that LUMS will provide me with fruitful experiences and insight from many experts in the industry.
Why did you choose your particular programme?
As someone who is coming from IT background, pursuing a higher degree in the IT field has always been my dream. Coming from an undergraduate study in Information Systems and having 2.5 years working experience in IT consulting made me realise that I am really interested in IT and its implementation in business. It is fascinating to see how IT can transform a business and boost a company’s competitive advantage. The ITMOC programme offers an opportunity for me to learn both IT and business. It also allows me to learn about the end-to-end process in IT implementation and how it can impact business and society.
What are you enjoying most about your programme?
The ITMOC programme consists of 22 students and we come from 15 different nationalities. It is interesting to have an opportunity to learn with people from different backgrounds and cultures as I will get more insight from it. Furthermore, students are always thrilled with various cases in class and have many chances to join workshops from some big companies. Through the learning process in class, we also need to be critical and think out of the box.
Tell us about your best Lancaster moment so far.
Actually, every day in Lancaster is awesome! I got to learn something new every day and have the chance to meet new people with interesting backgrounds. If I had to choose one best moment, it would be an event from my programme, cultural food night! In this event, all students need to bring special food from their own country and at the end we got so much food from 15 different countries. It was so fun to get an opportunity to taste something that I have never tasted or seen before and listened to the story behind it. I will never forget this fun and valuable experience.
What are your plans after graduating from LUMS?
After finishing my study in LUMS, I will work in the IT industry as this is something that I am really passionate about. I plan to work in an IT start-up as an internal consultant because I believe with the open and fun working atmosphere in a start-up, I will learn and give a bigger impact to the company. After working for several years, I will pursue my PhD degree (may be in Lancaster?) to achieve my bigger dream to be a Lecturer in a university in my country.
