Student Ambassador for MSc ITMOC, from Austria

Why did you choose to study at LUMS?

My decision to study at LUMS was triggered by several reasons. In addition to the uniqueness ofthe ITMOC programme and the international reputation of LUMS, I was particularly impressed by the friendly and ambitious atmosphere on campus. I am glad to say that this impression even intensified since the start of my courses.

Why did you choose your particular programme?

Before I came to Lancaster University, I worked for 5 years in different positions in the airline industry. During this time, I realised the importance of understanding the interdependency between IT and the management of organisational change. Therefore, it was not very hard to decide that this programme was the right choice for me.

What are you enjoying most about your programme?

There are many things that I really enjoy about the ITMOC programme. First of all, the focus and the structure of the modules enable me to develop a very broad and profound perspective of both operational and strategic aspects in the context of IT and organisations. What is more, the regular sessions with guest speakers act as an optimal link to apply the academic perspective to real world challenges. Finally, working and studying in this truly diversified cohort is really rewarding, productive and humorous.

Tell us about your best Lancaster moment so far.

One special highlight was the very warm welcome when I arrived in Lancaster. Everything was perfectly organised and when I met my flatmates and my classmates for the first time, I immediately knew that this year would be great.

What are your plans after graduating from LUMS?

Throughout the programme I got a solid understanding of the potential and the challenges regarding technology in enterprises. Therefore, I feel well prepared to apply as much ITMOC-expertise as possible to projects in the areas of corporate management, consulting and entrepreneurship.
