The reputation of LUMS was a major factor that attracted me to Lancaster as well as the variety of programmes offered, including the possibility to pursue combined majors in different fields. This convinced me to study Economics and International Relations. The living environment also played an important role in my decision to join Lancaster University, which has a green campus with exceptional extra-curricular opportunities. It also has a strong community feel that I really enjoyed, with many social events taking place, which made me feel very comfortable from the start.
I studied interesting modules throughout my three-year degree and had a particular interest in Monetary Macroeconomics and Public Economics. LUMS gives us a lot of freedom in choosing the modules students want to study, so I was always able to pick the ones that best fit my interests. I also really appreciated the quality of teaching and the availability of the teaching staff - always approachable and ready to help. In addition to providing me with 'hard' skills, my programme has also taught me how to work under pressure and be organised and disciplined. This really gave me an excellent preparation for my Master’s degree.
Moreover, I joined Investment and Finance Society and Economics Society, where I frequently attended presentations and discussions on a variety of relevant topics. I also found the Careers events very useful, such as presentations about jobs and opportunities to network with current employees of major firms in London. Being a big fan of sports, I was able to play football, basketball and tennis using Lancaster’s incredible facilities. Playing team sports introduced me to students from a variety of cultures and backgrounds who I might not have otherwise met.
These three years at Lancaster were very intense and rewarding in terms of both academic and social life. I was able to easily travel to some of the most interesting and beautiful places in the UK, and I have developed long lasting friendships. This time at Lancaster will stay with me as a period of great memories.
After completing a Masters Degree from Warwick Business School, I am currently working in Corporate Development at Accenture in London.
