The first day I arrived at Lancaster University I loved what I saw. The scenery was amazing, staff were friendly and professional, the current students were actively involved in helping everyone settle in. It was amazing and it reminded me of the saying “A place for everything, everything in its place”. I knew I was in the right place.
My interest in the School grew as I started my course – the MSc in Human Resource and Knowledge Management. The blend of Human Resource and Knowledge Management made the course very rich and it challenged me to develop critical thinking skills, analytical skills and self-management.
The lecturers understand what appeals to us Millennials and so they teach with relevant examples and make the classes highly interactive. Being in a class with diverse cultures means that we share experiences and learn from one another.
Living off-campus allows you to enjoy the best ofboth worlds – the University and the local community. It means I get to interact with individuals and families in Lancaster and attend some of their festivals. On my bus ride to the University in the mornings I enjoy observing my environment, watching parents taking their hyperactive kids to school, people walking their dogs; and after my lectures in the Management School I spend time with my friends or go to my favourite place on campus – the Library. The architecture is beautiful and the ambience is welcoming. It makes you want to pick up a book and read.
Being a member of the Culture Society has exposed me to other cultures; I believe understanding other languages is key to understanding people and will give me a global edge in my career.
In one word I would say student life in Lancaster is all about GROWTH: learning here has given me a better perspective on life.
