Hazel worked as a recruitment consultant for SW6 Associates as part of her degree.
My role initially began as a resourcer where I would be sourcing candidates for the consultants. This revolved around posting adverts, networking and utilising LinkedIn to find candidates before interviewing them to ensure they were what our clients were looking for. I would then liaise with the candidate alongside the consultants to arrange interviews and successfully place them within a company, at which point I would also receive a resourcer fee.
My role evolved when we moved office and I was promoted to Recruitment Consultant – a big highlight for me and the bank balance. I was given a pay rise and the opportunity to earn more commission doing the full 360 role of a consultant. I would then both find and screen candidates and liaise with clients to book in interviews. My role became more sales-focused as I had to sell candidates to the clients and persuade them to interview them. I would also cold call companies and develop new business and roles for us to work on.
The highlights of this role hugely revolve around the company culture and benefits. Incentives are offered for achievement of targets; during my time here I have received shopping vouchers, lunch clubs at top London restaurants, and to top it off we are going on an all-expenses-paid holiday to Marbella. The culture of the office is like a family and we often go out for drinks after work.
I really like the fact it’s a small company so I actively engage with my MD, Directors and manager. There is also huge flexibility in terms of time off.
