BBA Management

Why did you choose to study at LUMS?

The primary reason for choosing to study at LUMS was the quality and renown the Management School had in the UK and globally! It was of most importance to be employable and ready to tackle the work environment. With the practical structure of LUMS courses, great career advice and support and the flexibility to focus on the subjects you are mostly interested in, LUMS stood out from my array of choices.

What was the best thing about your course?

The BBA Management has stood out to me due to the flexibility and quality of peers as well as teachers. There was a high level of effort and quality that was noticeable when compared with other degrees. Furthermore, having the possibility to do a year abroad and a placement year and specialise in a certain topic for the last academic year, showed that I could tailor the degree to my liking rather than graduating with a generic one.

Did you do a project, placement, study abroad? What did this involve and what did you gain?

I had a wonderful placement experience at IBM in London working in the Software Sales division. Day to day activities would vary from meeting and negotiating with clients to scoping the market for new clients and participating in networking events. The placement year was a great way to get into the working environment, establish your independence and understand what area you would like to work in when you finish your degree. I would strongly recommend any LUMS student to undertake a placement year!

Describe your time at LUMS in three words:
Networking, Employability, Innovation.

Which parts of your Lancaster experience were the best preparation for your job?

Having a holistic experience made a big difference to being prepared for starting my company. Lancaster University offers the possibility to be part of clubs and societies, work part-time and participate in activities that will improve your knowledge and readiness for the work environment. For me personally, the practical modules in entrepreneurship were the biggest help in starting my own business!

What impact has your Lancaster experience had on your career?

Lancaster University has clearly jump-started my career as a business owner! I have working relationships from the networking opportunities that took place here. Furthermore, teachers, lecturers and staff gave me a hand with promoting and validating the business idea. I am confident I am on the right track now and fully enjoy what I do!
