Why did you choose to study at LUMS?
The MORSE degree covered a broad range of topics that I was interested in.
What was the best thing about your course?
I enjoyed the variety. Moving between economics, maths and management science modules allowed me to gain a wider range of skills and knowledge.
Did you do a project, placement or study abroad? What did this involve and what did you gain?
As part of my degree, I completed an Industrial Placement at the Bank of England. This was a 13-month placement working within the data team for the Annual Stress Test within the PRA. It helped me gain a broader knowledge of the skills required to work in the industry and where to focus my efforts in my final year. It also improved my organisational skills and importantly secured me a job at the end of my degree.
Describe your time at LUMS in three words.
Interesting, COVID, Varied.
What are your best memories of your time at Lancaster?
I really enjoyed my year in industry, which wouldn't have been possible without the assistance of the LUMS careers team. On the social side, I enjoyed the casual clubs such as the benchball club.
What are the best things about living in the Lancaster area?
Everything is close together and well connected being a campus university. It is also very easy to go into town.
Which parts of your Lancaster experience were the best preparation for your job?
My year in industry. It directly led to my current job at the Bank of England.
