MA in Language Testing student wins international award
Congratulations to MA in Language Testing student Juliana Bahia who has won the 2022 Caroline Clapham IELTS Masters Award! Juliana’s dissertation was selected by the IELTS partners (British Council, IDP: IELTS Australia, Cambridge English) as the dissertation that makes the most significant contribution to the field of language testing this year.
Juliana’s research involved the development and investigation of a speaking rating scale for the revised Interagency Language Roundtable (ILR) framework – a language training, testing and policy benchmark used in government contexts. Juliana’s study was conducted at the Canadian Foreign Service Institute, and situated in the context of testing diplomatic staff’s Spanish speaking proficiency. Juliana was supervised by Professor Tineke Brunfaut.
