MA dissertation highly commended
Many congratulations to MA in Language Testing student Andrew Fleck, whose dissertation has been awarded highly commended status by the 2024 Caroline Clapham IELTS Master's Award committee. Andrew's research compared two commonly used item types for testing listening comprehension skills: multiple-choice and open-ended questions. Andrew studied the effect of these items types on the difficulty of the listening items, on how test-takers completed the items and on test-takers' perceived listening comprehension. The findings of the study have implications for the design of second language listening tests.
