New brain and bilingualism lab launches with advanced EEG workshop
In early November 2024, we celebrated the launch of the new Brain and Bilingual Experience Lab (BaBEL) with a two-day workshop on advanced methods in electroencephalography (EEG) to study the multilingual mind and brain.
The workshop took place on November 4-5, 2024, and brought together researchers from several disciplines, including linguistics, psychology and neuroscience, from the United Kingdom and abroad.
We are very grateful to our workshop instructors, Professor Vincent DeLuca (UiT the Arctic University of Norway), Dr. Sergio Miguel Pereira Soares (Max Plank Institute for Psycholinguistics) and Dr. Yanina Prystauka (University of Bergen), for joining us in Lancaster and for sharing their expertise with us.
BaBEL will be co-directed by Professor Jason Rothman and Dr. Aina Casaponsa.
Professor Rothman said: “It was a great workshop, one of many future ones and, thus, a fitting start to the BaBEL venture as part of our launch of our new Multilingualism and Cognition research group."
The workshop materials are freely available for download by clicking on this link. We will share recordings of some of the sessions at a later point.
