British Geological Survey Groundwater Research Projects

‘Periods of abnormally high rainfall can result in groundwater flooding of basements and the emergence of groundwater at the ground surface, causing damage to property and infrastructure.
The British Geological Survey (BGS) has one of the largest groups of scientists internationally researching groundwater flooding. This includes aspects such as the understanding of groundwater flooding mechanisms, modelling of groundwater flooding and the mapping of susceptible areas. RIVER RESTORATION WORKSHOP ORGANISED BY JBA & UNIVERSITY OF GLOUCESTERSHIRE

This event will cover important restoration opportunities linked to the Defra Catchment Restoration Fund and will cover obstruction removal/modification, river and floodplain reconnection, urban channel restoration and river naturalisation.

XXVII Nordic Hydrological Conference
13-15 August, 2012 in Oulu – Finland
The XXVII Nordic Hydrological Conference will be held at the University of Oulu, Northern Finland, from the 13th to 15th of August 2012.
The conference is being organised by the Water Resources and Environmental Engineering Laboratory, University of Oulu, in collaboration with the Thule Institute, VALUE Doctoral Programme, LYNET and the Finnish Hydrological Association on behalf of the Nordic Association for Hydrology (NHF).
Abstracts due by March 15th.
