Waitrose and LEAF working together over the years to deliver more sustainable food and farming.
LEAF (Linking Environment And Farming) is an independent charitable organisation helping farmers across the world to farm more sustainably through Integrated Farm Management (IFM). IFM helps farmers improve business performance, lower environmental impacts, enhance landscape and wildlife features and engage with their local communities.
The LEAF Marque Standard is a leading environmental assurance system. In order to achieve LEAF Marque certification, farms have to demonstrate high standards of environmental stewardship across all nine sections of IFM.
The Waitrose Farm at the Leckford Estate, is a LEAF Demonstration Farm which shows the beneficial practices of Integrated Farm Management to a broad range of audiences, through organized visits. It also gets involved in LEAF Open Farm Sunday, opening its gates to thousands of visitors to explain where their food comes from and how it is produced. All Leckford Estate flour is LEAF Marque certified and looking to the future, Waitrose and LEAF are working together to increase the sustainability of the Leckford Estate arable enterprises.
But it’s not just food – Waitrose cut flowers, and even Waitrose Christmas trees bear the LEAF Marque, providing real evidence that they have been produced with care for the environment.
