About Branston
Branston was formed in 1968 when a group of farmers in the local Branston area decided to work together to grow and market potatoes.
Over the years the company has developed into one of the largest growers, buyers, packers and distributors of potatoes in the UK – engaged in all aspects of the industry from seed and farming to fresh, processing and ready-prepared potatoes.
There are three Branston sites – in Lincoln, Scotland and the South West – strategically placed in the heart of some of the UK’s finest potato-growing land and supplied by dedicated Producer Groups. We also have our own Farming division, which grows a range of crops for supply into Waitrose branches across the country.
As we rely on nature for our product we always take great care to look after the environment, both in the field and at our sites. All our resources are precious, so we work hard to get the most out of everything we use, not just raw material, but water and power too. All are sites are ISO 14001 accredited and we’re proud to hold the Carbon Trust triple standard – for carbon, water and waste.
We also play a major part in industry-leading research, contributing to the drive for new and novel ways of improving potato crops. From investigating satellite and drone technology to pioneering the use of innovative fertiliser treatments as potentially cost-effective and environmentally sensitive approaches to meeting the nutritional needs of a hungry crop.
