Research Overview

I am a PhD student exploring the impacts of floating photovoltaic panels on lake ecosystems and water quality. Floating photovoltaics (FPVs) show great potential as sustainable renewable energy source at a global scale, however very little is currently known about the impact of FPVs on the nutrient and microbial community dynamics within the waterbodies. Investigating the nature and likelihood of impacts is essential to optimise efficiency and environmental benefits of this emerging technology.

Before starting this project, I achieved a First Class degree in Environmental Science at Lancaster University. Fieldwork and laboratory work throughout my degree sparked my interest in hydrology, water quality and aquatic ecology.
