Join our speakers Rupert Reed and Mike Berners-Lee as they address the changes needed to tackle the emerging polycrisis. After a question and answer session with the audience, stay with us to continue the discussion over drinks and snacks. Global Futures events aim to bring people from many different academic disciplines and business practices together to share and spark ideas and actions.
Rupert Read is an Emeritus Professor of Philosophy at the University of East Anglia in Norwich, UK, former spokesperson for Extinction Rebellion and co-director of the new Climate Majority Project. He authored several books, including This Civilisation is Finished, Parents for a Future and Why Climate Breakdown Matters and has been a regular contributor on the Today programme, QuestionTime, Newsnight, Politics Live, Al Jazeera, and more.
Mike Berners-Lee thinks, writes, researches and speaks about sustainability and the big system changes needed to overcome the climate and ecological crises in the Anthropocene. His books include The Burning Question, How Bad are Bananas? and There is No Planet B. He’s the founder and Director of Small World Consulting, which has been working on climate change and corporate sustainability since 2005, and is a Professor at Lancaster University.
This Global Futures event is hosted by Small World Consulting, Lancaster Environment Centre, Centre for Global Eco-Innovation and the Pentland Centre.
