The Data Science Institute warmly invites you to the launch of its new Diversity in Data Science working group, which aims to reduce barriers and increase opportunities for underrepresented groups in data science and AI. The launch happily coincides with LU’s International Women’s Day (8 March) celebrations and the 10th anniversary of the DSI, providing an ideal time to take leadership and action on these issues.

A recent report by the Alan Turing Institute highlighted that only 22% of professionals in data science and AI are women and that women make up only 18% of users across the largest online global data science platforms. Many other groups are likely to be even more strongly underrepresented, with significant intersectionality, yet the data to analyse these trends are extremely limited.

If you want to join us or learn more about the group, the initiatives and colleagues already working in this area, and the schemes we will be launching in the future, please register for the event below.
