Research Overview

My research analyses the role of the monarch in the British constitution today. The project focuses on Elizabeth II as constitutional monarch, looking at the nature and extent of influence which she exerted via the exercise of key constitutional conventions, how this influence evolved over the course of her reign, and whether this influence is justifiable in a 21st century democracy underpinned by parliamentary sovereignty and the rule of law.
