Deputy Director Dr Thomas Mills, has been elected Chair of the Transatlantic Studies Association

Deputy Director of the Centre for War and Diplomacy, Dr Thomas Mills, has been elected Chair of the Transatlantic Studies Association (TSA).
Since its founding in 2002, the TSA has established itself as the leading academic society for the study of transatlantic relations. The Association is interdisciplinary in nature, attracting scholars from diverse fields, including history, politics, literature, and security studies. The TSA is also international in scope, with scholars from North America, Europe and elsewhere playing an active role in the Association. The TSA’s sister journal is the Journal of Transatlantic Studies, published by Palgrave-Macmillan.
The TSA’s annual conference generally attracts between 150-175 delegates. Recent conferences have taken place at the University of Ghent, the University of North Georgia, and in 2019 was hosted by Dr Mills at the University of Lancaster. Previous keynote speakers at TSA conferences have included Professor Fred Logevall (Harvard University), Professor John Ikenberry (Princeton University), Professor Trine Flockhart (University of Southern Denmark) and Professor Anna Brickhouse (University of Virginia).
Alongside its annual conference, the TSA offers a number of prizes and awards, including an annual book prize in association with Cambridge University Press and a research award in partnership with Palgrave-Macmillan.
Having previously served as Treasurer and Vice-Chair of the TSA, Dr Mills will serve as Chair of the Association for a term of three years. The TSA conference in 2022 will take place at the University of Kent in Canterbury, between 4-6 July.
See the TSA website for more information about the Association.
