Hi Naveed, hope you're well. Can you paint us a portrait of yourself and your role?
As a primary care physician by training and now the founder of Tritone Health, I’ve always been driven to reach out to those whose voices often go unheard. I developed a digital platform to support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, inspired by my experiences across continents in the humanitarian sector - setting up primary care clinics for refugees in Asia for international medical teams and promoting health education in remote African villages.
What does a typical working day look like for you?
Life as a founder involves a diverse range of responsibilities. A typical day starts with catching up on emails and stand-up calls with software developers, followed by meetings with healthcare commissioners, NHS England, clinical teams, investors and national advisory groups supporting people with intellectual disabilities. It also includes accounting tasks, planning to attend networking events or conferences, and connecting with potential partners.
What motivates you to do what you do?
I always think of the patients we are aiming to serve as I have treated many during my clinical experience, domestically and abroad. People with intellectual and developmental disabilities sadly die 20 years early on average and nearly 50 per cent of their deaths are avoidable. They are more likely to suffer alone with more than one health condition and often experience poor access to care. Having the purpose to keep going by serving the most disadvantaged is the best motivation.
What is/has been your favourite aspect of being part of the collaborative community through the Health Innovation Campus?
The HIC team have provided us with the best support and learning environment to build our product. There are many networking opportunities with industry healthcare leaders invited. Knowledge sharing alongside healthcare academics offers a unique advantage to keep abreast of changes in healthcare at a system-wide level.
What future projects and collaborations are you excited about?
We've launched our digital platform, Medii, in England and we are currently in talks with international partners. What truly energises us, is the opportunity to collaborate with expert users - patients with lived experience, their families, and dedicated medical teams. Working iteratively to co-create solutions reflects equal ownership. As we continue to evolve, we are adding an AI layer to our platform, empowering patients and families, supporting medical teams, breaking down barriers, and enhancing care for the most marginalised communities. Through this journey, I've met incredibly inspiring people who work tirelessly, often without recognition, to drive positive change.
