Abby is a Lecturer in Organisational Health and Well Being in the Faculty of Health and Medicine. Her research brings together researcher and practitioner training and experience in the development, implementation and evaluation of workplace health interventions. Her research is interdisciplinary and predominately mixed methods encompassing a range of pragmatic methodologies. Abby has recently collaborated with Lancaster Environment Centre to explore Local Authority’s prioritisation of climate change strategies for tackling health and health inequalities in the mission to Net Zero.
Her work also examines the feasibility, acceptability and effectiveness of multi-component sitting reduction and activity promotion interventions in contact centres and traditional office workers, with a focus on the use of innovative physical and web-based technologies.
Abby was previously involved in designing, delivering and evaluating a Sit Less and Move More (SLAMM) multi-component intervention among call centre workers (2016-2019). She conducted process evaluations of ehealth; 'Exertime' (2018-2019) and an mhealth; 'Rise and Recharge' (2019-2020) interventions which aimed to reduce total and prolonged sedentary time and increase physical activity at work among traditional office workers. These projects involved colaboration with esteemed researchers in both the UK and Australia.
