3. Ari Paz Chito
Ari Paz was forcibly displaced from Cauca due to violence, arrived in Cali 30 years ago and faced significant challenges with his family. He played a crucial role in occupying the land in Brisas de Las Palmas, where he initially set up a tent in a lot for his family and helped other displaced people do the same. Ari encouraged cooperation among newcomers, ensuring there were no conflicts over land. He also took the initiative to secure basic services like water and electricity. Throughout his journey, Ari emphasised the importance of honesty, teaching his children to be honest despite their struggles, and maintaining a self-reliant, community-focused approach. |
