Engineering Bacterial Microcompartments for Biotechnology
Current Research
As part of my PhD research, I am dedicated to exploring the potential of bacterial microcompartments as innovative platforms for sustainable biotechnology. The goal is to utilise these microcompartments to develop plant biofactories, which can help producing valuable compounds in a more environmentally friendly and economical manner. This involves a multidisciplinary approach that harnesses the power of microorganisms, genetically engineered plants, and cutting-edge biotechnological tools to create sustainable plant systems.
My areas of interest also include:
- Genetic Engineering
- Microorganisms Applications
- Synthetic Biology
- Plant Engineering
- Bioinformatics Database Development
By integrating these areas, my research aims to contribute to a more sustainable and productive future, addressing global challenges such as food security, climate change, and environmental crises.
Supervised By
My project is funded by NorthWestBio DTP, and I am collaborating with Douglas Orr at my university and Leighton Pritchard at the University of Strathclyde.
