Advantage Africa Workshop

The School of Global Affairs is delighted to host Advantage Africa, the first FASS Social Enterprise in Residence. Advantage Africa are the first of six social enterprises that will be hosted by the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences over the next two years, supported by funding from the AHRC Impact Acceleration Account.

Advantage Africa supports people affected by poverty, disability and HIV to improve their education, health and incomes. Their work helps some of East Africa’s most vulnerable people to overcome prejudice, help themselves and build a better future for their families and communities.

Advantage Africa are being hosted in the School of Global Affairs throughout Michaelmas Term and the organisation’s Director Andrew Betts will spend two weeks on campus work with staff and students. The residency will enable Advantage Africa to explore opportunities for collaboration on research and engagement with colleagues across the University. Advantage Africa will also host a FASS student intern and will lead a workshop for students interested in working in the third sector.
